Bloomfield Family Chronicles

A Bloomfield family photo album

Here Are a few images of Michael from his days growing up in Chicago and Glencoe. Included on this page are photos from the family's summer holidays, spent most often at El Carnilla, a dude ranch in Tucson, Arizona.

The Bloomfield family and friends arriving in Texas for a vacation, circa 1952. Michael is in the cowboy hat and dark jacket, with Allen to his left. Their mother, Dorothy, is standing on the tarmac with the girls. Photos courtesy of Allen Bloomfield

Summer at the ranch: Michael, saluting the photographer, and Allen, about to throttle his older brother, pose with friends at Bishop's Lodge in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in the mid-'50s.

While Allen developed a deep and abiding love for horses during those summers at the ranch, Michael was a passable rider at best. His interest soon became the guitar, and he received his first Harmony 6-string at about this time.

The future guitar giant steps out at a dance party in Glencoe. As a young teen, Michael briefly took formal dancing lessons.
